Dec 09, 2014 · With the top off and the dryer not running, there is enough flex to easily push it against the right side of the cabinet but not so on the left. The whole drum is just a bit too close to the right side. I can stop it temporarily by manually flexing the right side of the cabinet out and away from the drum.

I can't see what might be rubbing against it. I am hesitant to take off the back of the dyer to see what might be rubbing against it in the bottom of the dryer since that may cause the heating element in the back wall of the dryer to have issues. The Drum Slides (part #AP631382) are evenly worn, but they are pretty worn needless to say.

The drum could be rubbing on the top or sides of the cabinet. Do not set anything heavy on the top of the dryer. There is very little clearance between the top of the drum & the top panel.

There is a plastic 131825900 drum bearing that is most likely worn. As the bearing wears the front of the drum will rub against the seals. I'd suggest you replace all three at the same time. You could start with the bearing if you don't want to replace all three parts.

May 10, 2005 · GE Electric Dryer Making grinding noise. My GE Electric Dryer just started making a grinding noise. Everything seems to be working fine. Dryer rotates. It produces heat. I took the dryer apart.....first had to clean out all the lint here and there. Took the drum out, inspected the belt and back support wheels. They seemed to be fine. In the front the drum turns on two supports that have a Teflon glide. Those two glides had been worn off
If I go to this machine and press against the top is the drum, you can see how much the drum moves away from the door seal here. But if we go over to this machine and do the same thing, you can see there's virtually no movement between the edge of the drum and the door seal. so again that's another indicator of worn bearings.
